Here are some highlights from the final heat of the Billabong Pro 2009 Mundaka that took place earlier today. Congrats to Adriano de Souza who won first place and moved into the third spot in the world title race. The overall rankings shifted a bit after this contest. Joel Parkinson, who was the world number one, moved down and let Mick Fanning take over the lead. With only two contests left in the season the race for the title is on and will be interesting at the next two stops, which are Portugal and Hawaii.

Mick isn’t the only one still in it to be number one at the end of the year. Anyone in the top 10 has a chance. Keep an eye on Kelly Slater, with a 3rd place last contest and a 5th place at the Quiksilver Pro, he is now in the 5th spot and about 1200 points out of 1st place.

The next contest is the Billabong Pro in Mundaka, Spain which starts next week on October 5th.
