Hurricane Irene will be a Category 4 storm (131-155mph winds) sometime tomorrow and by the time it makes it’s way to OBX it will still be a Cat 3.

Long Island, keep your eyes open. This weekend is going to be pretty messy and there is still the potential of Irene making landfall on Long Island as a Category 1 or 2 storm.

As per the 11am update, the National Hurricane Center has announced the formation of Tropical Depression Three in the Bahamas. The Hurricane Hunters are en route to the storm to get better readings of pressure levels and wind speeds but it looks like we’ll have Tropical Storm Bonnie some time today. 

Tropical Storm warnings have been issued for the Bahamas, South Florida, and the Keys for the next 48 hours. Also looks like it will be a rough weekend for the oil cleanup crew in the Gulf as this storm looks like it is going to cross right over where everything is happening.
